Islas de Higantes (and doing things that scared me)
Very Recently, my friend @achieoffduty posted pictures of our outing in Carles, Iloilo. :)
This pocket paradise in Carles Iloilo, 2 hours from Estancia (which is 4 hours from Iloilo City, and 7 hours away from where I actually live) is well worth the trip. It was just a day and a half worth of travelling and enjoyment, but it was well worth the effort.
My friends from medical school before were in town for a national convention for their specialties, and invited me to go with them. Being the social butterfly (but more "free agent", haha), I packed a few things in my bag and ran off into the sunset, literally.
These are just some of the places I got to see when I went there last October 11, 2015.
The trip was a pretty special one, because aside from being able to go to Iloilo, I got to do some serious "soul-searching", especially after I got to go through some of the "nature" challenges that we tried.
One was spelunking...we went to this cave adventure, which was unexpectedly a physically demanding course, with lots of climbing up and down, and lots of moist darkness, closed spaces, and a lot of heights and climbing and possible slipping down into oblivion (or death), if I weren't careful.
(Ok, that may be too melodramatic, but you get the idea. :-))
I hate enclosed spaces, and high places...and falling. But because there was no going backwards in the course, my friends and I braved the 2 hour trip inside the mountain. (Which reminds me, that the next time I'm going to try something, I'm going to have to ask what it is going to be about.)
:-)
Also...I leapt off a little cliff into the water. I went in feet first, but there is that initial "fall" part that I had to contend with. Letting go is scary...especially when you look down and see that it actually FEELS higher than it looks.
But jump I did, and climb those rocks to go to the jumping point I did too.
---
One of the more important things I learned on that trip was that...even though things are going to get hard and scary, there would be no where else to go, but through it.
(And then everything is going to be ok. )
---
I took another leap sometime after that, but that's another story, for another day. :-)
Have a great day!
Love,
S.
