Couple on the boulevard bench at midday. November 21, 2015.
Perhaps what caught my attention was her fiery red hair...and the way they were sitting out in the noontime heat, oblivious of everything except their conversation.

I didn't read their body language, is all...I didn't even attempt to make up a story about them.

The octopus. Lecian Grand Carnival, set up at Calindagan, Dumaguete City. November 24, 2015.

This is a pretty wild ride... I didn't actually get on this one, but I was on one a couple of years ago. I normally like amusement park rides, but I don't relish this one. It's "fun", but the discomfort i have is when I either have to hold the other person's hand, OR hold on to the bars.

It's not like you don't trust them, but it's more of...watching out for yourself.

(As they don't all come with the best safety harnesses. Kind of like life. and Love.)

Dear Samantha,

The Dumaguete City fiesta honors St. Catherine, and is held on the 24th and 25th of November every year. Annually, they hold a local pageant, where they feature the work of local designers. The theme revolved around the history of the women in Dumaguete City, with elements of local history, the famous Bell Tower included added into the designs.

These designs were placed on display at the newly-built Paseo Rovira, the old ancestral home of the Perdices Family. It is located right next to the Rizal Boulevard, making it one of the most flocked-to destinations in the city recently.

(It is also where the newest franchise of Max's Chicken was, so while we were waiting for our chicked to go, I had to go around and explore (so what else is new, right?)

I suppose the contestant wearing this had to walk around with the bell tower on semi-invisible wires strapped to her torso to pull this off. It IS a whole new departure from the usual ballgown effect.

This golden creation was about "interlocking" and interconnections... of a more traditional terno design.

This was the label on the white gown with the bell tower motif. A bit of history about the ladies from Dumaguete in this one... Although I am not one to agree on the "shy and softspoken to aggressive and empowered" statement in this label, I think that there are varying degrees to it.
This was one of my favorites...a bit of "peacocking" wouldn't you say? :-) Still, I loved the artistry.

The design was painted on the pina skirt for this one.

This one's the top portion of the dress.

I really liked how they made all this accessible for the people. It is a nice bit of cultural exposition.

Love,

S.

I found him again, after checking out the box they gathered from the general cleaning of my old room upstairs... This was one of my beloved plush toys (I didn't have many then.), and he was something that I would hug a little bit and then put back in a plastic bag so it would stay clean. He IS a cutie, though, isn't he? I might give him away, but only after a few more hugs. :-D

One of my friends posted this quote online, with a picture of herself kayaking in an island paradise...

She's a bit of a romantic, and she was in this relationship with someone who she clearly was in love with because they really understood each other.  (The last time I heard, though...they were going through some adjustments in their differences, but...it is really is not my business to tell.)

The line struck me because in the more recent past (ok, maybe like, 9 years or so haha), I've always had this above need, and although it is nice and inspiring sometimes, I really have to rein myself in, as I don't know if it's proper to just spout your mouth off and share all these moments with someone, who might not be as receptive...or may not be the right one.)

But you get what I mean, right?

Happiness/ Sadness/Joy/Grief/Excitement...all that. I wanted to share it with someone, someone who understood me (and would be happy for me.)...but I didn't want to be too... excited about it.

:-)

Perhaps, if someone really wanted to know all these moments that I had to share (and have me share with him, then I'd think this was a more organized way of showing it.)

Anyway, I have to go

Just this morning, while browsing through my new mail, I surfed on into this cute little video.

Oh, song improvs are always fun... this one was just a breath of fresh air.

And funny!

:-)

love,

S.

Very Recently, my friend @achieoffduty posted pictures of our outing in Carles, Iloilo. :)

This pocket paradise in Carles Iloilo, 2 hours from Estancia (which is 4 hours from Iloilo City, and 7 hours away from where I actually live) is well worth the trip. It was just a day and a half worth of travelling and enjoyment, but it was well worth the effort.

My friends from medical school before were in town for a national convention for their specialties, and invited me to go with them. Being the social butterfly (but more "free agent", haha), I packed a few things in my bag and ran off into the sunset, literally.

These are just some of the places I got to see when I went there last October 11, 2015.

The trip was a pretty special one, because aside from being able to go to Iloilo, I got to do some serious "soul-searching", especially after I got to go through some of the "nature" challenges that we tried.

One was spelunking...we went to this cave adventure, which was unexpectedly a physically demanding course, with lots of climbing up and down, and lots of moist darkness, closed spaces, and a lot of heights and climbing and possible slipping  down into oblivion (or death), if I weren't careful.

(Ok, that may be too melodramatic, but you get the idea. :-))

I hate enclosed spaces, and high places...and falling. But because there was no going backwards in the course, my friends and I braved the 2 hour trip inside the mountain. (Which reminds me, that the next time I'm going to try something, I'm going to have to ask what it is going to be about.)

:-)

Also...I leapt off a little cliff into the water. I went in feet first, but there is that initial "fall" part that I had to contend with.  Letting go is scary...especially when you look down and see that it actually FEELS higher than it looks.

But jump I did, and climb those rocks to go to the jumping point I did too.

---

One of the more important things I learned on that trip was that...even though things are going to get hard and scary, there would be no where else to go, but through it.

(And then everything is going to be ok. )

---

I took another leap sometime after that, but that's another story, for another day. :-)

Have a great day!

Love,

S.

About Me

Eloisa
I've never been married, never been pregnant, and I've never been a mother, but someday I'll be ready...and I'll probably name her Samantha, and call her Sammy sometimes. (But right now, I'll have to stick to arming her with some 30-something life lessons and wisdom - in retrospect, which is perhaps the best kind).
